Saudi Arabia has long been a land of rich cultural heritage, but recent years have seen significant steps towards making it more accessible to travellers. With the introduction of a tourist e-visa, it has never been easier to explore the kingdom, and a range of new Saudi tours offer diverse experiences for visitors.

The oil rich nation has the potential to become one of the Middle East’s premier travel destinations. It is home to awe-inspiring landscapes, from the vast sand dunes of the Empty Quarter to the dramatic rock formations of AlUla. The country also boasts historic sites, including the ancient Nabatean city of Hegra, and, of course, the spiritual heart of Islam, Mecca and Medina.

April 18 - Riyadh
  • Today is an arrival day so arrive at your own convenience into the capital city. Airport transfer to our hotel.
  • Possibility to tour a bit of the city yourself before the full group has arrived.
  • Group dinner & overnight in Riyadh.
April 19 - Riyadh
  • Enjoy a breakfast before we hit the city and embark on our city tour in the capital. 
  • Riyadh is Saudi’s capital city and therefore its biggest city, hosting around 7 million people, making it the third biggest city in the Middle East. Riyadh was first mentioned as a settlement in the 17th century. The area where modern-day Riyadh stands was known as Hajr, which itself dates back to at least the 7th century.
  • Start off the city tour with a visit tour Ad Diriyah UNESCO site – the birthplace of the first Saudi state.
  • Continue on to Al Masmak Fortress, a historic mud-brick fort located in the heart of Riyadh. Built in 1865, captured in 1902, the fortress was captured by Abdulaziz Al Saud to unify the Arabian Peninsula and establish the Saudi state.
  • Carry on visiting the Souq Al Zel to find handcrafted goods, textiles, and traditional Saudi products. It’s the place to meet and mingle with the locals.
  • We won’t miss out on the Murabba Palace, which has been turned into a museum.
  • Evidently, we’ll also pay a visit to the National Museum, which covers various aspects of Saudi history, from prehistoric times to the modern era.
  • Wrap up the tour in the majestic Kingdom Tower and visit the iconic sky bridge on a height of 300 meters!
  • In the area there are plentiful food options. Enjoy your dinner here before heading back to the hotel.
  • Overnight in Riyadh.

April 20 - Ushaiger | Buraydah
  • Have a breakfast in your hotel in Riyadh before we embark on a two-hour drive to Ushaiger. 
  • Ushaiger is one of the oldest towns in the country and has been inhabited for centuries. Its origins dating back to pre-Islamic times. It was an important stop for trade routes and is renowned for its well-preserved mud-brick buildings
  • Tour the town and visit a family-run museum while meeting the hospitable locals.
  • Hit the road again and drive another two hours today to arrive in Buraydah.
  • Visit the local heritage museum.
  • Overnight in Buraydah.

April 21 - Buraydah | Hail

  • Before visiting the Date Market there’s breakfast in the hotel. Save up some space for the world class Saudi dates!
  • Continue your visit to the Camel Market in the Qassim province. There is a lively atmosphere, where camels of various breeds and ages are bought and sold, including those for racing, breeding, and traditional uses. Camels hold great cultural importance in Saudi Arabia. They are often referred to as “ships of the desert“. If we’re lucky we might see a camel beauty contest or race!
  • Prepare yourself for another drive of around three hours towards the city of Hail.
  • Hail has a long history that dates back to ancient times. It was an important stop on trade routes and is surrounded by stunning landscapes, including mountains, valleys, and deserts. It boasts some of the most fertile lands on the peninsula.
  • Visit A’arif Fort, which dates back to the 19th century and is believed to have been constructed during the reign of the Al Rashid dynasty, which ruled the region before the unification of Saudi Arabia.
  • Later visit the Al Qishlah compound, constructed during the Ottoman Empire in the late 19th century. It served as a military barracks and administrative building. The compound features traditional mud-brick architecture, typical of the Najdi style.
  • Overnight in Hail.

April 22 - Jubbah | Al Ula

  • After a breakfast in Hail we’ll drive for around an hour to visit the UNESCO Site of Jubbah
  • Jubbah is famous for its prehistoric rock art and petroglyphs, which date back thousands of years. The area contains numerous carvings depicting animals, human figures, and various symbols. Additionally, the town is set against a backdrop of striking desert landscapes, featuring unique rock formations and mountains.
  • Afterwards, we’ll prepare ourselves for a 4,5 hour journey ahead of us by visiting a shop to buy some refreshments for the road.
  • Drive to AlUla. We’ll stop on the way a way times before arriving in our hotel.
  • Dinner at the hotel and overnight in AlUla.

April 23 - Hegra | Al Ula

  • Today is one of the most exciting days as we will visit AlUla’s ancient civilizations’ sites as well as some magnificent natural wonders.
  • AlUla has been inhabited for thousands of years and has served as an important trade hub. The area is rich in history, with archaeological finds that span multiple civilizations, including the Nabateans, Romans, and various Islamic eras, and it boasts breathtaking natural beauty, with dramatic rock formations, sandstone cliffs, and lush palm oases. Its certainly one of Saudi’s most photogenic places, so don’t forget to bring spare batteries!
  • Start the day off with a visit to Hegra UNESCO Site, Jordan’s Petra’s continuation. The Nabateans obviously didn’t make use of our modern day borders. The site features over 100 tombs with intricate facades carved into the sandstone cliffs.
  • We’ll visit AlUla Old Town, which dates back over 1,000 years. It features traditional Arabian architecture, with structures built from mud and stone. The town has served as a vital hub for trade and commerce throughout its history.
  • See Dadan & Ikmah, stroll around the ruins of this ancient city’s temples and tombs, and view the ancient inscriptions dating back to the Lihyanite Kingdom from 200-600BCE.
  • End our visit at the Elephant Rock. The name gives it away! We’ll make sure to stand at the right angle.
  • Dinner and overnight in AlUla.

April 24 - Medina

  • After breakfast we’ll drive for an hour or four to one of the world’s most well-known cities: Medina. City in Arabic translates into medina, but now you will have the chance to visit the medina of Medina’s in the birthplace of Arabia.
  • Medina is one of the holiest cities in Islam, second only to Mecca and it holds great historical and religious significance for Muslims around the world. Here one can find the site of the Prophet Muhammad’s migration (Hijrah) from Mecca in 622 CE, marking the beginning of the Islamic calendar and the birth of Islam.
  • Upon arrival in the city we’ll check-in to our hotel before we visit the city. See the Prophet’s Mosque from the outside and learn about its history and significance. 
  • Continue the tour to Jabal Uhud, a mountain which is known as the site of the Battle of Uhud, where the early Muslim community, led by the Prophet Muhammad, faced a larger army from Mecca. The battle is considered one of the key events in early Islamic history.
  • Visit the Quba Mosque, the first mosque built in Islam. It is now estimated that there are some 3.6 million mosques around the world.
  • Overnight in Medina.

April 25 - Jeddah

  • Embark on one of the 21st century’s Arabian wonders: Take the High-Speed train to Jeddah. This train goes up to 300 km/h (186 mph).
  • Check-in to your hotel and join us to Al Balad. This neighbourhood in Jeddah is the oldest and protected by its status as a UNESCO Heritage Site. Stroll around the area and visit souks, museums and mosques.
  • Enjoy a bit of free time by yourself today.
  • Overnight in Jeddah.

April 26 - Jeddah

  • Prepare yourself for a full day of walking, today we will visit Jeddah thoroughly. 
  • Join us on a city tour and visit the Tayyabat Museum, showcasing the rich history and heritage of the region, focusing on the traditional lifestyle, art, and architecture of the Arabian Peninsula. 
  • We’ll head on to Jeddah Waterfront, the coastal part of the city. Here you’ll have stunning views over the Red Sea and the possibility to leisure and/or recreate. At your own expense it’s possible to partake in water sports, such as jet skiing and paddle boarding. 
  • Before that however we will visit the Floating Mosque. This mosque is designed in a way that during high tide it seems like it’s floating. It’s an iconic landmark and must-see in Jeddah.
  • Overnight in Jeddah.

April 27 - Departure

  • Enjoy your final breakfast in Saudi Arabia before a transfer to the airport. 
  • End of Saudi Arabia tour.

Most frequent questions and answers for our tours to Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia is generally considered safe for tourists. The government has invested heavily in security and tourism infrastructure. Being aware of and respecting local customs and traditions is important. We research the security of our destinations highly and safety is a priority, however we also advise you to do your own research as well to ensure you are comfortable with your trip.

The best time to visit is in the Spring and Autumn when the temperatures are comfortable. It is also advisable to travel outside of the Ramadan period, as sites and restaurants might be closed.

There are direct flights from most big airports, such as London, Dubai and New York to and from both Riyadh and Jeddah.

You can exchange USD and EUR easily.

ATMs are widely available in urban areas but in the smaller, more remote towns it is advised to bring cash.

The group size is no more than 12 travellers.

A standard hotel twin share room is included. You can upgrade to a single room if you wish.
