Highlights

If you’re looking for an off the beaten track North Korean experience that will leave a lasting impression, then look no further than our North Hamgyong tours.

Visited by only a handful of foreigners each year the region is a world away from Pyongyang. Located at the North East tip of the Korean Peninsula, the province is full of untouched National Parks, beaches and the most welcoming people in the DPRK. Due to it’s isolation any visitors are given 5 star hospitality for making the trip up north.

It’s also home to the only homestay in North Korea. The village is nestled within Mount Chilbo national park. Here we cook, play volleyball, take a spin in a fisherman’s boat & and have a beach bonfire well into the night.

We have three tours per year to North Hamgyong. Each one also takes in the capital of Pyongyang. In our opinion these tours give you the best possible insight into North Korea possible.

Where?

We are one of the only companies to service the whole of North Korea – including the lesser visited North East.

We have three North Hamgyong tours per year. If these dates don’t work for you let us know and we can organise a private tour for you on any dates.

When?

The best time to visit North Hamgyong is from May to October. The winters are extremely cold.

Visa?

We will apply for your visa on your behalf. You collect it from us pre-tour in China. It’s that simple – no need to surrender your passport at any point.

How do I get there?

You can either take a domestic flight from Pyongyang or a train from Beijing to the border town of Tumen. From here it’s a simple walk across a bridge into North Korea. That in itself is a real highlight!
